Because I know you’re reading this…

Some little redhead teenage cracker punk crossed the line today when he posted my son’s personal (ergo MY personal information) on some forum for PSP nerds. I’ve got all I need on my local machine and have already begun the process of reporting it as a denial of service attack. The Web host, the board moderator where the information was posted, the appropriate authorities are all being informed of this breach. Let’s be clear about this because little teenage boys can’t wipe their own asses much less understand the gravity of making a 10-year-old child’s information public: This is a punishable CRIMINAL offense. Each state has its own jurisdiction over this type of behavior. You’ve already been banned from the board on which you posted the information thanks to the cooperation of the board moderators there. There will be more to come. I expect your full cooperation. I suggest you tell your parents what you did because they’re going to find out one way or another. And I expect your full cooperation. E-mail me at nascent_2004@yahoo.com. Sincerely, One Extremely Pissed Off Parent |

Dear Sir,
I am a member of the forum that the information about you, and your sons was posted at, and you make a valid point. However I do have a problem with the comment you made about the capabilities of a teenager. I am a 15yo Student, and I understand that the actions of a member of my generation have you upset and rightfully so, no one has the right to disclose others private information. However, You have made a generalization about my age group. You claim that we are incapable of “whipping our own asses” now, I understand that you are angry about the situation at hand, this is understandable. But us as teenagers do understand the consequences, it is just an issue about caring about them. I fully understand the Laws Of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania of which I reside, It is just a matter of cooperating with them. I am a sworn civil servant, as a Jr. Fire Fighter I am expected to be an example of the maturity level of my age group. I take great pride in investing, and saving my money in a High-Yield Savings Account, and a roth IRA in preparation for my future. Now, I understand that the boy who “Infiltrated” your sons site does not represent the best of my generation, however I would like to defend my generation. Yes, some of us are quite troubled, however, some of us are not. You are making a very outlandish accusation that we are incapable. I respond to fire/ems calls and I am expected to assist to the best of my ability, this can include a variety of actions. I have also attended a camp for teens interested in law enforcement as a career path. Now, if you still think that all teenagers are incapable of performing day to day tasks then I feel that you are mistaken. I do not mean any harm in this response, and hope that you take the time to read it and contemplate what I have said. I wish you the best of luck in restoring damages inflicted to your sons site, send him my regards. I will be away for the week, at a Boy Scout Camp helping the younger scouts out, I am sorry if I do not respond to any emails in a timely manner.
With Regards,
John Ryan

I appreciate your thoughts, John.
You touch on issues that are larger than this particular post. It’s an age-old question mostly asked by the younger generation about whether or not the younger generation deserves a little more credit for their contributions to society.
That’s not so much in dispute here. I was a teenager too once and I can remember being similarly frustrated about misconceptions that older generations had about my own generation. It happens to *all* generations, John. Not just yours.
Having said that, if you are involved in all the stuff you say you’re involved in, I congratulate you. However, my view is that each person should strive to be more than the sum of his or her parts. The Jr. Firefighter, IRA, saving account, Boy Scout stuff all looks good on paper, but later on in life when you’re trying to figure out who you are as a person, you should probably figure out more stuff to say besides Jr. Firefighter, IRA, etc etc because somewhere out there is someone who has all that stuff and more. What makes you unique?
In any case, your point about generalizing about your generation is well taken.
Good luck,
Steve Peralta

ALL THAT IS UNIQUE, I DONT KNOW ONE PERSON THAT DOES ALL THAT STUFF. JOHN IS A GOOD KID, IF I DID THE KIND OF STUFF HE DOES I WOULD PROBABLY BE WAYY BETTER OFF THAN I AM GOING TO BE.
AND WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE CALLING A GENERALLY NICE ONLINE COMMUNITY A FORUM FOR “PSP nerds” DUDE WE ARE ONLY LIKE 10-16 WHAT THE FUCK ELSE DO YOU WANT US TO DO. MOST PLACES YOU HAVE TO BE LIKE 18 TO GET A JOB WHERE I LIVE.
DUDE, I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU TO NOT EVEN TRY, THE KID THAT POSTED YOUR SONS INFO LIVES ACROSS THE STREET FROM ME, ALL HE DID WAS LOOK UP YOUR WHOIS INFO, ITS NOT THAT HARD. LOOK:

Mr Peralta,
I am in direct dispute with you comment about my activities. Yes, they all do look good on paper, however I would not be out there doing all of that if it was just so it would look good on my college application. I do the things I do for the experiance I gain from them, I would never waste my time just for another award or something to make me look good. For in the end that “paper” could be lost, and all forgotten. If you think that I need to express my indivduality more than I think you are wearing blinders, for the fact that I am posting here and talking to you in a rational way describes my indviduality. If you think that I do all my activities just for a pat on the back then you are dead wrong. I do it for the learning experiance. I wouldnt take half the crap I do if it was just for a pointless trophie, or certificate that someday will be forgoten. The things I have learned, and am still learning are the pavers for my sucessful future.
You say that “you should probably figure out more stuff to say besides Jr. Firefighter, IRA, etc etc because somewhere out there is someone who has all that stuff and more.”
We all learn something diffrent from our experiances, for not one person can take an event in the exact same way as another. We were all created diffrent, and we all have diffrent emotions, feelings, and attitudes. So Mr. Peralta, I ask you, How can you still say that I need to find what makes me unique? As I have stated, I gain my uniqueness from my experiances, and how I will use what I have learned in the future. No matter what we do, wheather it be sit on the couch all day, work all day, or sleep all day, we are all still unique in our views and Ideals. If you are questioning my, or any other human beings uniquess then I must protest that you have absoutly no grounds to question them. I do not question your uniqueness sir, and I ask that you do not question mine, or my motives.
Thank You,
Resptfuly,
John Ryan

I’m not saying your not unique, but you’ll understand at some point that it’s a cop out to say “we’re all unique.” It’s a non sequitur. Of course we’re all unique.
I didn’t mean it as an insult. I’m sorry you took it that way.
Thanks for your comment.
