SAN ANTONIO - Language included in the proposed Homeland Security Bill will allow Pentagon spooks to snoop into the most private and sensitive information of every U.S. citizen, according to the Washington Times. Under the bill’s “Total Information Awareness” program headed by Admiral John Poindexter (see Iran-Contra debacle), the Pentagon would merge its database with those of large corporate consumer databases creating a super database packed to the gills with private information such as e-mails, Internet use, credit card purchases, divorce records, credit records, library records, driving records - the list goes on and on. The Privacy Act of 1974 would actually have to be amended to accommodate the passage of the bill which is said to be on the fast track. |
